Pokhara

Pokhara is one of the major city in Nepal and the administrative center of the Gandaki Province. It is the second most populated city in Nepal. In terms of size, it is the largest metropolitan region in the nation. Pokhara is situated 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu, the country’s capital. The city is located at an elevation of roughly 822 meters and is situated on the shore of Phewa Lake.

An enchanting city nestled in the tranquil valley is the starting point for many of Nepal’s most popular trekking  and rafting destinations. Within 24-56 km of the valley is the Annapurna Range, which is home to three of the ten highest mountains in the world: Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, and Manaslu with magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machchha-puchhre, five peaks of Annapurna and others.

Bindabasini temple is a Hindu temple built in a pagoda-style. Additionally, it is regarded as Pokhara’s most visited temple and place of worship. The temple offers stunning views of the city and the surrounding mountain ranges. The goddess Durga, often referred to as Kali, Shakti, or any of her numerous forms, is the basis of the temple. To worship, get married, do bratabandha, etc., many Hindus visit this temple. This temple, which is also well-known as a tourist destination, has gained popularity among visitors. A large tree that is present in the area surrounding the temple gives the people a sense of spirituality and a very solemn environment. The shrine has emerged as a key destination.

Devi’s fall, also known as Devin’s or David’s, is a magnificent waterfall that is located approximately 2 km southwest of the Pokhara airport on the road to Tansen. It is also known as Patale Chhango (Hell’s Fall). According to an intriguing contemporary tradition, a foreigner by the name of David was skinny swimming in the Pardi Khola (river) when the floodgates of the dam opened, washing him into an underground channel beneath the fall, never to be seen again.

One of the natural beauties of Pokhara is the Seti River Gorge, which the Seti River sculpted. The Bagar, Mahendra Pool, and Prithivi Highway Bridge, which is close to the Bus Park, offers a wonderful view of the river’s terrifying rush and the deep valley created by the tumultuous flow of white water that looks like milk from the KI Singh Bridge.

The Ghupteshwor Mahadev cave, which lies in the Gandaki zone and Kaski district of Pokhara, a renowned tourist destination, is arguably the longest and most beautiful cave in all of South Asia. Previously, this location was known as barren Khatri Tara.

It is 9 kilometers to Pokhara’s north-west. It is one of Nepal’s most well-liked tourism locations. The tranquil hill resort, conveniently positioned high on the summit of a ridge at 1,592 meters, offers a breathtaking view over the entire Annapurna range, which stretches from east to west, as well as the unspoiled rural communities that lie just below those towering peaks. Views of the expansive Pokhara Valley, Phewa Lake, and many other views can be seen 700 meters down from Sarangkot’s summit.

On top of Ananda hill, the Shanti Stupa Pokhara, also known as the World Peace Pagoda Pokhara, is located. The Stupa, which stands at a height of 1100 meters, is Nepal’s first pagoda dedicated to world peace. Early daybreak can provide breathtaking views of the Annapurna mountain range when the weather is clear. It can be a ton of fun to hike to the pagoda representing world peace. It is the ideal location for seeing the Himalayan Mountains, Phewa Lake, and the city of Pokhara. Many people visit there as well for the magnificent sunrise and sunset views. It is 7 kilometers to the Stupa from Pokhara.

Fewa Lake is the second-largest lake in Nepal and is located in Pokhara. It has an average depth of roughly 8.6 m and a surface area of 4.43 sq km. A beautiful reflection of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountain ranges can be seen in the lake’s clean water, and it is a semi-natural freshwater lake surrounded by Raniban, or queen’s forest. It is also the ideal location to view Himalayan sunrises. The pleasant lake’s warm water is perfect for a journey in a little wooden boat.

 

Additionally, the lake has spiritual significance. On an island in the lake sits the revered Barahi shrine. On the picturesque island of Fewa Lake, there is a two-story Hindu temple called the Barahi temple. Goddess Durga, who defends the gods from demons, is honored by its dedication. The Barahi temple is a significant place of worship for all Hindu believers as a result.

Begnas Lake is one of Pokhara’s most stunning lakes. For those seeking to escape the grind of daily life and to appreciate the wonders of nature, Begnas Lake is a perfect getaway. The lake water near the foothills of the Himalayas reflects the neighboring mountain ranges on clear days. The Begnas Lake is located in the Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolis, in Pokhara’s southeast. It is made up entirely of freshwater and is the third-largest lake in Nepal.

One of Nepal’s most breathtaking vantage points is located at Pumdikot View Tower in Pokhara. The three-tiered Shiva statue and the breathtaking vistas of the Annapurna Himalayan Range, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and numerous other nearby mountains have made it well recognized. With a Shiva monument, a natural hamlet, a lake view, a valley view, mountains, and serene surroundings, The Pumdikot is a new tourist destination near Pokhara. The original Shiva statue is 52 feet tall, while the Phumdibhumi Village’s idol of him is roughly 108 feet tall.
